May - August Snowmen

It's time for the monthly snowmen to appear! This year in our quilt guild we are doing a redwork (or bluework, or any other color you want) of monthly snowmen. I chose to do the embroidery in blue as I haven't done a bluework quilt yet.

For a tip when doing this type of stitching, I put batting on the back of my muslin or background fabric piece before I begin the stitching. Besides giving the block a bit more of a dimension, it also easily hides the knots and threads behind in the batting. :)

 

 

 

 

I've been getting an email almost everyday of different and odd facts.  So I'm going to start putting them into my blog at the end.  Some things are cool, some you may know already, and some are just plain weird.

Summer is ending...

Well the summer has ended (as far as the boys know it). :) They started school on Monday. I now have a 4th grader and a 2nd grader! They are seriously growing up so fast!

I know this summer I have been very VERY bad at blogging. Everyday I think about it, put it on my list to do, but it just never happened. I even have a calendar of things listed that I want to put up. So maybe now with the boys back in school, I'll be able to devote a day a week to getting some posts up. I know you are all anxious to see all the creations I've been into....from paper to fabric! Oh, and there's lots to share! So bear with me as I get the routine down and I promise new stuff will be up soon!
