It's my birthday!!!!

:) :) :) :)  Today I turn 34!  Don't feel any older than I did yesterday, but here I am a year older.... It's going to be a great day!  I already got pampered this morning, I got my nails done and even sprung for a pedicure...I don't get those done very often (maybe once every few years) It felt really good to be spoiled!  Here's how my nails look now....I even added a pretty flower!  Did you know that they have acrylic powder that is colored with glitter???  I had that done this time and it looks fab!!!  Since I do so much with my hands in my crafts that the paint chips easily, this way they won't! :)

 

And I finished the birthday cake wall hanging banner!!!  I just love it!!!!  And it has ZERO calories...ok, well maybe a few from the chocolate you have to eat while you make it! ;)

Praise God!!!!

Well it's been quiet here on my blog for a bit....with the health stuff going on here, I haven't felt like blogging much.  Though I got wonderful news yesterday from my doctor...the biopsy came back and both cysts in my neck are benign!!!!  :) :) :)  He is referring me to a specialist to see what they can still do for my thyroid gland though....apparently it is HUGE on my left side and barely an inch on the right side.  It may just mean some medication.  I'm ok with that. :)  So now this weekend I can enjoy my birthday!!!!! 

Tomorrow we are going to the Giants game with the boys.  So excited!  I love going to baseball games!  It will be the first time for Andrew.  Then Sunday I have a mid morning golf lesson then we are going to the in-laws for a birthday dinner (since Mark's birthday was yesterday....he always tells me that he is 3 days older and wiser) ;)

I am **almost** done with the birthday cake banner that I quilted.  I plan to finish the binding later this afternoon.  When I have it done I'll post it. (probably tomorrow since that's my birthday)

I'm rushing for time right now, got to take lil' one to his school then head over the hill to work for a few hours decorating cakes including mine! :)  The boys get out of school early today so gotta hurry up.

I have a couple of projects to share with you today. The first is a layout I did of my dear sweet grandma.  I used some new October Afternoon papers!  Yay!!!!

On another note:  Last week I went in to get my thyroid checked out and the dr. ordered blood work as well as a ultrasound.  Most of the blood work came back as normal, there was one test he was still waiting for.  He thinks I may have goiter and will be referring me to a specialist soon.  But right now we are focusing on the biopsy I have to have done tomorrow.  :(  They found a few cysts in my neck during the ultrasound and they want to make sure it's nothing to worry about.  I've never had anything like this done before so I'm a bit scared. Say a prayer for me.

I made one of my goals!!!!!

Ok, so I've been busy for the last 4/5 years in the scrapbook industry, working for manufacturers, getting published in magazines/ezines and having a blast doing this!  I've been published in all sorts of craft magazines over these years but there's been 2 particular magazines that I have not been able to break into..... Scrapbooks Etc. and Creating Keepsakes.   Well, that has now changed at least for one of them.  :) :) :)  As of the June 2009 issue of Creating Keepsakes, I have a layout published in there....Finally!!!!!!!!!!  lol!!!!!!!  Check it out!!!  :)  I am beyond thrilled that I finally have my name in there in print!!!!!  (and I'll have another one later on this summer!) ;)  I'm hoping this is a start of something good!

Block of the Month

Good morning!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I got to spend most of it in my studio creating all weekend.  I finally put the binding on my coffee quilt and quilted a birthday cake banner.  I'll post pics when I'm completely done.  I have really missed quilting and doing things for me.  I'm going to try to do this more often.  I have signed up for 2 BOM's (Block of the Month).  The first one is called "Queen and her court" (perfect fitting! :) :) )

 

And the second one is another "perfect" one for me since I've decorated cakes for over 7 years total.... It's called "Let them eat cake".

 

I already got the first block finished this last weekend of the Queen quilt, the cake quilt BOM doesn't start until August.  I really enjoy doing applique work, it was probably those 16 years of doing cross stitch that made me used to working with fine needles.

  I've been going through my stash for the last week, and plan to do more to get ready for my new shelves that should be here later next week.  I want to now be able to move most of my fabric back into my studio so it will inspire me even more to quilt more often.  With another scrapbook magazine folding (Memory Makers) I am really wondering where the scrapbook industry is heading and how much longer there will be opportunities for designers.  I think I'm trying to prepare for myself.  I guess we'll see how the next year folds out. 

Oh, I also wanted to mention that my Etsy store is open again!  I have posted some class kits that I have leftover as well as other items such as cards, home decor and mini albums.  Please take a look if you can.

This morning I wanted to share with you a few extra cards that I've recently done. The first is for Di Hickman's May #1 sketch.  I dug into the new Garden Grove from Scenic Route!  :) :)  I won their monthly contest a couple of months and won this line!  So excited about that!  And it's fantastic!!!

And on a personal side note.......I am extremely proud of this boy:

 

Because he was a 6 week early preemie, he ended up with a severe speech delay and has been in speech therapy since he was 3.  Last week, I had a meeting with his teacher and speech therapist and we all agreed that James has greatly improved over the years and he has officially graduated from speech therapy!   :) :) :) :)  He still has a bit of a lisp, but that could go away in time.  I am so happy for him! He is my star right now!!!!!!!! :) :)

wow, it's been awhile...

The days are really flying by now.  Here we are in the first week of May and it seems like the new year just started!  We've been dealing with the sickies for the last 2 weeks, first it was me and James, then Mark got sick over the weekend and now yesterday lil' one Andrew started running a fever.  So there really hasn't been much going on over here. 

This week is Teacher Appreciation week at school.  So for James teacher I made this, it is a shape by Say It With Letters and I made it last fall just holding on to it until the end of the school year. :)  It came out so cool, that it might be a yearly thing I do for all of their teachers. :)

 

I also wanted to share with you a few of the cards I did for CupCards {to go} May kit. It went on sale last friday, I hope you got one!  It is one of the favorites of all the designers! :)
