What's on my table-December

I love decorating my kitchen table.  Even though we have a dining table too, I usually make sure the kitchen table is decorated throughout the year. That's where we sit for most of our meals and since my studio/quilt room is connected to the kitchen I want to see the decorations.  They make me smile.  For the Christmas holidays I put out my snowman cookie jar that sits on this adorable snowman table topper.  I made this sometime last year and I LOVE it!  All made with wool felt, it is one of my favorite pieces!

My MICKEY Quilt!!!!

It's finally ALL DONE!!!  And I get to post it on Mickey and Minnie's birthdays!!! (Happy Birthday to you both!!!)  ;)  :)

This quilt was so stinkin' fun to do!  Well, at least watch the progress it made!  If you remember last year in the summer I joined a round robin (kind of like a circle journal) but with a quilt instead.  The center of my Mickey quilt started out like this...

 

Then I sent it off to the ladies in my group who live in all different parts of the country!  I watched the quilt grow every few months and then a few months ago in August I got him back.  I immediately took it to my Aunts house where she quilted it on her long arm.  Then I put the binding on and.....TADA!!!!   May I present you "Mickey's Round with Friends"

 

Isn't it just the BEST!!!!!????  Oh, I so love this quilt.  I don't have a wall space to hang it up (gasp! I know!) but the colors don't fit my house.  BUT, it is folded up and drapes over a cabinet in my studio where I can look at it anytime I want. :)

Banner Day tablerunner

This tablerunner here is on my desk ready to be quilted.  I'm still deciding what to do in the center, but I'm excited to finish this up.  Once it is done it will go exactly here on my dining room table.  The fabrics are all Jo Morton reproduction fabrics. The ticking fabric (the striped blue and red around the center panel) was a bit challenging to sew with.  But I do love how it came out and it will look great in the room. 

 

BTW, do you see that Christmas Crossing quilt in the background??  It's hanging out of a drawer on an old dresser.  That dresser I'm toying with painting a different color, maybe black or barn red?  Course I have to get the hubby to agree. ;)  Though leaving it white may be good too....where else will I put my pink and green quilt?

 

Little projects with Jo's fabrics

I'm still part of the Jo's little group that meets once a month.  There's only a few of us that get together, but it's a great group!  I so enjoy making small doll quilts.  Here are a few projects I've done this year so far in club 9 for Jo Morton's little women group.

This one is called "Christmas crossing".  I love the pink and green combo. 

 

This one I didn't put the other borders on it.  I wanted to keep it extra small so I can have it on my kitchen counter at all times.  I call it "All stars glory"...I'm so into patriotic things! :)

 

This one is "Renee's stars".  I made this for my dear sweet friend Renee for her birthday in July.  She and I have bonded over our love of fabric, quilting, food and Americana decor!  She is the best!  xoxo  (hi Renee!!!) :)

 

And I so loved the one I did for Renee that I just had to do a mini one for me! :)  Of course with a kitty! :)

 

I do have one more to show you, but you'll have to wait until I get it framed! :) ;) 

 

Polka dot garden blocks 1-3

Today is Wednesday Sew day!  I have a group of ladies from our local guild come over to sew for the day!  I look forward to it each week!  I hope to make some zucchini brownies in a bit this morning. (Mark has been growing it in our back yard and now we have 4 super king sized zucchinis I need to do something with!)

I've been working on a new pattern from Piece O' Cake designs, and have the first 3 blocks done.  There are several ways to do applique, but I prefer doing needle turn. To me it's easier to do and I like the look of it.  The whole quilt will be done in polka dot fabrics.  I still need to trim down the blocks to 10 1/2"...the pattern has some of the pieces overlapping another block, like the orange birdie in the first block, his tail will be stitched down on top of another block.

If you happen to know of any good recipes for zucchini, please let me know!  I'm desperate to find different (good) things to do with these monsters! :) :)
   

What's on your table???

I love dressing up my tables throughout the year.  Holidays, special occasions, doesn't matter...I love the way that a small table topper quilt can add so much more to the table setting! :) 

This is what is on my table right now.  It's a large panel piece I did a year or 2 ago.  We have a great love for strawberries in this house, so this was perfect for the summer months! We spent father's day over at my sister in-laws house for a BBQ and on her table was the chili pepper quilt I made for her at Christmas time.  Loved seeing it there!  In fact, her mother in law wants to commission me to make her a table topper for her own house!  :) :) Very cool!!!  So.....What is on your table??
